Dance as a way of life.
Dance has been a passion since I was
16 years old. I remember attending a party in Hungary at that
age and running away when everyone started to dance. I had no
idea what to do with myself! After that party, I was inspired to
attend a dance school and began taking lessons. I started
training in Hungary and before long opportunities appeared,
doors opened one after another. I trained with master dancers,
Hungarian, Italian, German, Russian, American, Norwegian...
These teachers saw hidden talent in me, more than I could see in
myself, and for this I am grateful. My teachers also saw how
hard I was willing to work to become a better and better dancer.
I participated in Hungarian championships and had the honor of
being my country’s dance champion 13 times. I stopped
competing professionally in order to dedicate myself to
teaching. I discovered I could help and inspire people to not
only become better dancers, but better people. Dance can
be a powerful tool for people to discover and express different
parts of themselves. It helps you develop greater rhythm,
balance, harmony, respect and courtesy for one’s partner, and
especially confidence. Dance can be a way of life.
Ballroom dance not only offers you opportunities to develop and
enhance your skills as a dancer, but also as a dancer partner,
and even more broadly makes you a better listener, more
respectful, flexible, cooperative. |

Ivana: Native of Croatia, Ivana
moved to US in 2001. While pursuing her Nursing degree, she
started dancing salsa in 2004 and quickly found herself
discovering that it was DANCING what was missing in her life.
She found it to be something extremely fulfilling and rewarding
and became her way of living. Her start training was in On 1
Salsa (LA Style Salsa) and American Ballroom basics (Cha Cha,
Rumba, Samba, Bolero, East Coast Swing, Waltz...), but after she
was exposed to the Salsa Socials and Congresses in 2006, her
love for Salsa/Mambo prevailed and she became interested in
getting training from other sources.
She was introduced to On 2 Salsa/Mambo, and started expanding
her travels to Columbus, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, New
York...eager to improve her dancing.
In 2008 she took on a title of an Artistic Director for the
Annual Cincinnati Salsa Festival and became a part of its
organizational team. With performances at various events such as
Chicago Salsa Congress 2009 & 2010, Cleveland’s Baila Duro Dance
Social, Columbus Salsa Festival 2010, Cincinnati Salsa Festival
2009 & 2010 and other local events, Ivana continues to aspire
toward growing as a dancer, instructor, choreographer, and a
performer!
Frederic:
Frederic’s sister began his training when he was just 8
years old. He started dancing and performing at school and
community shows at 9 and has since been hooked on performing,
and through his teens he danced with several amateur dance
teams. Although he wasn’t formally trained, friends at the
university constantly asked him to teach them how to dance and
for 2 years he taught groups of up to 50 people. While
completing his Masters in Miami , he trained with Salsa Kings
(Casino) and University of Miami’s Salsa Craze (On1) and soon
rose to the performance level, performing and competing all over
Miami. In Dallas he trained with the talented Jonathan Rodriguez
(now OmniSalsa, Houston).
In 2008 Frederic assumed the co-direction of MamboDallas, one of
Dallas largest and most sought after Latin Dance school.
Frederic prefers to dance whatever the music tells the heart
(On1, On2, On3, On4, Cuban, Colombian, NY or LA, clave), or what
the lady feels more comfortable with. Frederic also enjoys
futbol (soccer), guitar playing and chess. |
