TAI CHI
Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art that is practiced as
such as well as for the health
and meditative aspects of its slow moving and gentile postures.
The practice is non-religious and requires no change in the core beliefs
of the practitioner.
Dancers may enjoy Tai Ch as another method of developing grace and
harmony
in their movement. The slow and gentile elements of Tai Chi can be used
to
examine how we are moving.
David will be teaching from Lee's modified form. This is a shortened
version of the Yang style of Tai Chi. Yang style Tai Chi is noted for
its
slow and gentle movement, combined with modest postures.
This makes the practice available to anyone of a moderate level of
health.
David began his studies of tai Chi and Chinese martial arts in 1973. He
continued taking classes until 1984. Since then he has been developing
what
he learned in that time. A highlight of these studies includes three
months
in Hong Kong working on the Wing Tsun system. He has also had experience
with a number of the Chinese martial arts systems.
Saturdays, 10:30am
$5 per class
Please feel free to come by and see if you would like to learn to play
